Deerlodge National Forest encompasses the high country of the Flint Creek Range in this modern survey of Granite County. The terrain is defined by a series of high-altitude basins and jagged summits, including Red Lion Mtn, Rumsey Mtn, and Cable Mtn. A significant cluster of alpine water bodies, such as Fred Burr Lake, Crystal Lake, and Dora Thorn Lake, feed the complex drainage system of Fred Burr Cr and the various forks of Warm Springs Cr.
