The Klamath River winds through the northeast corner of this Humboldt County terrain, passing the settlement of Waseck and the turbulent Ranick Rapids. The river is spanned here by the Martins Ferry Bridge, a critical crossing point in a landscape defined by sharp elevation changes and high ridgelines. High points like French Camp Ridge and Shelton Buttes dominate the interior, while Redwood National Park occupies the southwest portion of the survey area, including the prominent Coyote Peak and Coyote Rock.
