The high San Luis Valley landscape transitions from the jagged drainage of The Canyon into a complex network of agricultural irrigation in this recent survey. The border between Rio Grande Co and Conejos Co bisects the terrain where Fulcher Gulch meets the descending plains. Water management defines the eastern half of the sheet, where the Monte Vista Canal, Rio Grande and Piedra Valley Canal, and the Resettlement Ditch weave through the landscape to support regional ranching and farming operations.
