Gabbs Mtn and the Gabbs Valley Range dominate this high-desert topography on the border of Mineral and Nye counties. The landscape is defined by its drainage patterns, notably Finger Rock Wash and the complex system of Petrified Wash, which cut through the arid terrain. The transition from the steep elevations of the range to the broad, relatively level Stewart Valley is clearly delineated, illustrating the basin and range geology characteristic of this part of Nevada.
