Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness and Salmon National Forest lands dominate this high-altitude interior of Idaho. The landscape is defined by the steep elevation changes between Gant Mtn and the Yellowjacket Mountains, carved by a complex drainage system led by Panther Creek and Big Deer Creek. Human presence is primarily indicated by a network of backcountry trails and forest roads, such as the Birch Creek Trl and Panther Creek Rd, which provide access through the dense topography of Fritzer Gulch and across the high stretches of Trapper Ridge. The map documents numerous water features including the uniquely named Tukuteka'a Kani Nookwaide and Birch Creek, which feed the various flats and humps that characterize this portion of the Lemhi County backcountry.
