The Manistique River and its numerous tributaries, including the Driggs River and Mead Creek, define the marshy geography of this Schoolcraft County interior. Centered on the settlement of Germfask, the landscape is a complex network of wetland pools and small glacial lakes like Stewart Lake and Kennedy Lake. Local history is anchored by three distinct burial sites: the Germfask Cemetery, Old Germfask Cemetery to the east, and Blaney Cemetery further south near Ford Lake.
