The West Branch Susquehanna River carves a deep valley through the high plateau of Clinton County, defining the small riverside hamlets of Glen Union and Whetham. Along this corridor, the modern Renovo Rd follows the water's edge, passing McCloskey Island and the cluster of homes at Ritchie. The landscape is dominated by heavy timber and steep drainages, including Rattlesnake Run and Lick Run, which flow from the heights of Hyner Mountain.
