About this map

Granville and the winding course of the Cumberland River define this portion of the Highland Rim along the Smith Co Jackson Co line. The landscape is dominated by the waters of the Cordell Hull Reservoir, which has transformed the river valley into a complex series of inlets and points such as Sullivan Bend and Brooks Bend. Numerous hollows, including Jonesboro Hollow and Richardson Hollow, cut into the high ridges, many carrying local names that speak to the area's ancestral settlement patterns.
