The terrain is characterized by a series of deep drainages including Johnson Canyon, Greasewood Canyon, and Grass Canyon, where numerous Cliff Dwellings and Indian Ruins are documented along the canyon walls. These prehistoric sites are concentrated on high ground like Chapin Mesa and near water sources such as the Mancos River. Cultural features are largely limited to the archaeological, though early infrastructure like the Grass Canyon Road, a Jeep Trail, and the Ute Pasture Well indicate the mid-century land use of this region. The map also records markers of resource exploration including a Gravel Pit at Soda Point and several drill holes.
