Greenway and Madra sit atop a high-plains landscape defined by the drainage patterns of Spring Cr and the intermittent wetlands of the Missouri Plateau. Located along the state line where Campbell County and McPherson County, South Dakota meet the border of North Dakota, this area reflects the sparse, grid-aligned settlement patterns of the northern grain belt. The terrain is marked by numerous prairie potholes and depressions, typical of the glaciated plains, which transition into the gentle valley of Spring Cr in the southern portion of the map. These small communities served as local hubs for the surrounding agricultural sections, which are meticulously laid out according to the Public Land Survey System.
