Mt Greylock dominates this late-19th-century landscape, surrounded by the high-elevation peaks of The Ragged Mountain and the Hoosac Range. The industrial and transportation corridor along the Hoosic River is clearly defined, showing the expansion of North Adams and Adams at a time when rail and electric lines were the primary arteries of commerce. Significant engineering feats are visible, notably the Hoosac Tunnel piercing the range to the east.
