The town of Paradise and its southern neighbor Central Valley occupy the higher elevations in the northeastern corner of this 2015 study. This landscape is defined by the dramatic descent from the foothills into the eastern edge of the Sacramento Valley, carved by numerous drainages including Hamlin Canyon, Nugen Canyon, and Berry Canyon. The terrain shows a distinct pattern of ridges such as Doe Mill Ridge and Perkins Ridge, which separate the narrow canyons and seasonal waterways like Hamlin Slough and Little Butte Cr.
