About this map

Hansboro sits at the edge of a landscape defined by its intricate glacial hydrology and conservation areas. The northern prairie terrain is characterized by numerous seasonal basins and drainage features, including Hidden Island Coulee and Mauvais Coulee. Much of the territory is dedicated to habitat preservation, with significant portions of the quadrangle managed as the Towner County Waterfowl Production Area and the Rock Lake National Wildlife Refuge. The rigid grid of the Public Land Survey System is clearly visible through the network of section-line roads such as 106th St NE and 62nd Ave NE, which organize the agricultural fields around Moore Lake. This survey illustrates the modern intersection of large-scale prairie agriculture and federal wildlife protection efforts near the international border.
