Modoc National Forest dominates this section of the Modoc Plateau, where the Pit River cuts through the high desert terrain. The landscape is defined by a series of volcanic and tectonic landforms, ranging from the prominent Happy Camp Mtn to the sheer face of Noble Bluff. Numerous perennial and seasonal water sources are critical to this environment, including Log Corral Spring, Bark Spring, and Craig Spring, which historically supported local grazing and livestock operations.
