Manistique Lake dominates the southern reaches of this landscape, its shoreline defined by Foster Island and the neighboring N Manistique Lake. The terrain here is a complex network of waterways, where the East Br Fox River meanders toward the Manistique River, and the Tahquamenon River flows through the northeast corner. This geography dictated the placement of early settlements and transport corridors, with Danaher and Laketon situated along the northern tier and Carpenter Landing marking a point of interest further south.
