About this map

Harold and Holt sit along the high ground of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad in this 1930s survey of the Florida Panhandle. The landscape is defined by the winding paths of the Blackwater River and Yellow River, which create a complex network of wetlands and bayous including Cat Island Lake, Googleye Lake, and Crane Lake. This river-based economy is evident in the numerous landings and crossings that served local commerce, such as Faulks Ferry Landing, Race Track Landing, and Deaton Bridge.
