The Powder River carves a winding path through this southeastern Montana landscape, flanked by a complex network of drainages and ranch roads. The terrain is defined by dramatic erosion, most notably at Poker Jim Gulch and along the breaks of Hawkey Creek. This area of Powder River County retains its rural character, where movement is dictated by the North-South orientation of the river valley and the connecting corridors of Powderville Rd and Powderville West Rd.
