About this map

Hillsboro anchor the southwest corner of this landscape, where the Oregon Electric railway and the Spokane Portland and Seattle Railways converge to serve the surrounding agricultural and industrial districts just before the Second World War. The topography transitions from the alluvial plains of the Tualatin Valley to the elevations of Dixie Mountain and the Tualatin Mountains, which are breached by Cornelius Pass. Along the eastern edge, the Columbia River and the Multnomah Channel define a complex water system of islands and inlets, including the expansive Sturgeon Lake.
