Hornbrook and the neighboring settlement of Henley are central to this mid-1980s topographical study of northern Siskiyou County. The landscape is defined by the Klamath River winding through the south and the Southern Pacific railroad corridor which follows the valley of Cottonwood Creek. The area’s history is preserved at the Henley-Hornbrook Cemetery and the B R Alden Historical Marker, while the northern hills near the Oregon border feature the Jefferson-Davis Historical Monument. Resource extraction and land management are evident through the Jillson Mine and the extensive boundaries of the Klamath National Forest. Steep gulches like Rancheria Gulch and Rocky Gulch descend toward the valley floor, illustrating the complex drainage systems that once supported local mining and timber interests in this rugged border region.
