The Verde Wild and Scenic River snakes through a complex corridor of high mesas and deep canyons where the Coconino National Forest and Prescott National Forest meet. This landscape is defined by its water sources, from the developed recreation area at Beasley Flat to numerous remote livestock and wildlife tanks like Rodeo Flat Tank and Bootleg Tank. In the southern reaches, the Cedar Bench Wilderness protects the high ground of Cedar Bench and the Verde Rim.
