The Blue Mountains of Western Maine dominate this landscape, defined by a series of prominent peaks and high-elevation drainage systems. The Appalachian National Scenic Trail traverses the northern section of the map, winding past South Pond and Witham Pond before following the height of land. In the southern portion, the massif containing Jackson Mtn, Little Jackson Mtn, and the iconic Tumbledown Mtn creates a natural barrier, with Jackson Pond situated in a high glacial basin between them.
