Kisatchie National Forest dominates the landscape of this Central Louisiana survey, spanning the border of Rapides Parish and Vernon Parish. The terrain is defined by a dense network of drainages, including Williamson Creek, Rocky Creek, and the curiously named Canal Bayou, which flow through the Dough Hills. Settlement is sparse and concentrated near the western edge at Clifton and the southern namesake locality of Jericho.
