Jim Smith Peak and the high elevations of the Absaroka Range dominate this section of the Shoshone National Forest in northwest Wyoming. The landscape is defined by the drainage systems of the Clarks Fork Yellowstone River, which is fed by numerous alpine tributaries including Jim Smith Cr, Onemile Cr, and Tough Cr. The presence of Willow Park suggests a rare break in the vertical terrain, providing a natural clearing amidst the steep contour lines of the surrounding peaks.
