Ashley National Forest dominates this section of the Uinta Basin, where the high-altitude landscape is deeply incised by a network of drainages. The southern portion of the quadrangle is defined by the sharp transition of the Bad Land Cliffs, which drop precipitously toward Argyle Canyon and Argyle Ridge. This terrain dictates the human footprint, as seen in the winding path of US Hwy 191 and secondary routes like the Indian Canyon Right Fork Rd that follow natural contours through the canyons.
