1918 Map of Jordan Gap

USGS Topo · Published 1918

About this map

Jordan Gap and Puerto Potrillo serve as the primary passes through the high, flat-topped tablelands of West Texas in this 1917 survey. The landscape is defined by the sharp transition between the massive Whirlwind Mesa and Antelope Mesa and the broad, lower elevations of Paradise Valley and Green Valley. This terrain dictated the early transit routes, including the road leading To Marfa in the northwest and the small settlement of Paradise near the center of the sheet.
