Josephine Mountain and Fiddler Mtn define the high-relief landscape of this section of the Siskiyou National Forest along the border of Curry and Josephine counties. The area is characterized by steep drainages and isolated water sources, including Babyfoot Lake and the high-elevation Rough and Ready Lakes in the south. The complex system of canyons is drained by the Little Chetco River and numerous named gulches such as Lightning Gulch and Rocky Bar Gulch.
