The Big Snowy Mountains dominate this high-elevation landscape within the Lewis & Clark National Forest, where the border of Fergus and Golden Valley counties follows the primary ridgeline. This terrain is defined by dramatic limestone features and deep drainage systems, including the namesake Jump Off Peak and the high summit of Mt Harlow. To the north, the headwaters of Beaver Cr and Cottonwood Cr carve through deep ravines such as Lyon Canyon and Hay Canyon. This map reveals a wilderness area largely inaccessible by standard roads, with the exception of Crystal Lake Rd skirting the western edge near the Crystal Cascades. Notable for its complex topography, the area includes the sharp Knife Blade Ridge and the hidden drainage of Green Pole Canyon, illustrating the challenging mountain geography of central Montana.
