Kellytown and the surrounding coastal plain of the Darlington Co and Lee Co border are defined by a complex network of wetlands and small agricultural communities. The landscape is characterized by numerous Carolina bays, including Big Cypress Bay, Little Cypress Bay, and The Bay, which dictate the local drainage and road patterns. These oval depressions sit alongside watercourses like Sparrow Swamp and the Lynches River, creating a mosaic of saturated bottomlands and higher ground utilized for settlement.
