The Santa Cruz River winds through this borderland landscape, illustrating the proximity of the community of Kino Springs to the international boundary between the United States and Mexico. The terrain is defined by the eastern foothills of the Patagonia Mountains and a series of deep drainages including Yerba Buena Canyon, Sycamore Canyon, and Italian Canyon. Much of the eastern and northern portions of the quadrangle are protected within the Coronado National Forest.
