USGS Topo · Published 1981

About this map

The Santa Cruz River defines this high-desert landscape in the early 1980s, flowing south across the international boundary between Arizona and Sonora. Along its banks, the map captures a network of traditional ranching outposts and settlements, including the Buena Vista Ranch and the older ruins at Buenavista Viejo. In the northern portion, the Patagonia Mountains rise into the Coronado National Forest, where infrastructure like the Duquesne Road and various cattle tanks like Sycamore Tank supported the local cattle economy.
