About this map

Knowles Corner serves as the focal junction for this portion of Aroostook County, where State Hwy 11, known locally as the Aroostook Scenic Hwy, meets Me-212. The landscape is defined by the winding course of the W Br Mattawamkeag River, which flows past Mattawamkeag Hill and through various elevations marked by Upper Falls and Lower Falls. Small settlements like Moro and Batesville are situated along the western roadway corridors, while much of the eastern terrain rises toward Sholler Mtn and Frost and Adams Ridge. Genealogists will find the locations of Cooper Cem and Darling Cem useful for local research. The presence of numerous water bodies, including Rockabema Lake and the secluded Secret Pond, highlights the region's complex drainage network involving E Hastings Brook and Dudley Brook.
