The South Fork Holston River winds through the northwestern corner of this territory, where the settlement of Friendship and the landmark Loves Mill are established. To the southeast, the terrain transitions into the dense woodlands of the Jefferson National Forest, dominated by the Iron Mountains Shaw Gap and the prominent Big Knob Ridge. This survey documents a landscape of high ridges and hollows, where small mountain communities like Konnarock and Taylors Valley are linked by winding roads such as Rhymer Rd and Saunders Rd.

Genealogical interest is found in numerous family burial grounds, including the Byars Cem near Patterson Br and the McClure Cem to the northeast.
