Third Mesa and Second Mesa define the high desert topography of this region within the Hopi Reservation. The landscape is marked by ancient settlement patterns and modern tribal centers, including Kykotsmovi Village and Hotevilla-Bacavi situated along the southern reaches of the mesas. These communities are linked by the Az 264 corridor, which traverses the rugged drainages leading toward Oraibi Wash.
