L'Anse Bay and the surrounding shores of Lake Superior form the heart of this Baraga County survey, centered on the historic settlements of L'Anse and Baraga. The landscape is defined by its coastal orientation, where the Falls River enters the bay at the county seat, home to the Baraga County Courthouse. On the western shore, the community of Assinins is marked by the Assinins Cem, while the eastern side of the bay features the settlement of Zeba and the prominent Pequaming Point extending into the water.
