Old La Sal and the neighboring settlement of La Sal occupy a high-elevation landscape in the southeastern corner of Utah, situated near the western edge of the Manti-Lasal National Forest. This 2017 survey details a network of forest roads and ranching infrastructure, including Wilcox Reservoir and the La Sal Guard station. The terrain is defined by dramatic elevation changes across Pine Ridge and deep incisions such as Doe Canyon and Pole Spring Canyon. Evidence of the region's mineral history is found along Snow Ball Mine Rd, while the hydrology of the area is traced through La Sal Cr and Coyote Wash. The map serves as a contemporary record of land use within the Manti-La Sal National Forest, documenting the transition from historical homesteads to modern forest management and recreation.
