Sans Bois Creek meanders through this portion of Haskell County, defining the drainage patterns of the rural landscape south of Stigler. The area is marked by a series of water management projects, including Stigler Lake and the larger Lake John Wells, both held by namesake dams. These reservoirs provide a contrast to the natural topography of Shropshire Valley and the winding course of Mule Creek further south.
