Lake Sinai and Brush Lake dominate this section of the Coteau des Prairies, a high plateau that shapes the drainage patterns of eastern South Dakota. The landscape is defined by the glacial geography typical of the region, featuring numerous small depressions and water bodies scattered across the townships. The settlement of Arlington is situated in the northwest corner, while the small community of Ahnberg sits further south along the section lines. Local history is anchored at the Bangor Cem, located west of the lakes. The rigid grid of the Public Land Survey System is evident through the network of section roads, such as 212th St and 458th Ave, which partition the agricultural land between the varied shorelines of the two primary lakes.
