About this map

The United States and Mexico border defines the southern reach of this arid landscape in Hidalgo County. This remote borderland is characterized by drainage patterns moving south from the San Luis Mountains, where localized water sources such as Cienega Springs provide critical points of interest in a desert environment. Human presence is marked by the small settlements of Garcia and Bramlett, located on the western side of the survey area near the base of the foothills.
