The Anaconda Pintler Wilderness defines the southern reaches of this landscape, where the headwaters of the East Fork Bitterroot River begin their descent. This high-elevation terrain is split by the Granite Co Ravalli Co line, bridging the Bitterroot National Forest and Deerlodge National Forest. Movement through these drainages is dictated by a network of established paths, including the Moose Creek Trl and McCart-Johnson Peak Trl, which connect various topographic landmarks such as Lick Creek Saddle and the curiously named Hole in the Wall.
