Hood Canal dominates this coastal landscape, separating the mainland from the western edge of the Great Peninsula. The settlement of Lilliwaup sits at the mouth of Lilliwaup Creek, where the water transitions into Lilliwaup Bay. Just inland, the terrain rises sharply to reveal Lilliwaup Falls, a distinctive landmark in this timber-dense region of Mason County. Across the canal, the community of Dewatto and its neighboring Little Dewatto occupy the shoreline near Dewatto Bay, serving as remote outposts along the winding Dewatto River.
