Livingston Peak dominates the northern reaches of the Absaroka Range in this high-altitude landscape within the Gallatin National Forest. The terrain is defined by a series of steep drainages and mountain summits, including Elephanthead Mtn and Shell Mtn. Land use is primarily focused on the wilderness character of the national forest, with road access limited to the northeast corner near Swingley Rd and Bruffey Rd.
