Coconino National Forest defines the high-altitude landscape south of Flagstaff, dominated by the elongated waters of Lower Lake Mary and Upper Lake Mary. These reservoirs occupy the Lake Mary Valley, a significant topographical depression flanked by the expansive Anderson Mesa to the east. The terrain is a complex of volcanic landforms and drainages, where the Arizona National Scenic Trl winds past Marshall Lake and along the rim of Walnut Cr.
