The Unicoi Tpke snakes through the southern portion of the sheet near Presley, reflecting the area's long history as a mountain thoroughfare.

Local genealogy is well-represented through several small burial grounds such as Macedonia Cem, Osborn Cem, and Lower Hightower Cem. To the east, the Appalachian National Scenic Trail traverses the high ridges near Whiteoak Stamp. Settlement patterns follow the creek valleys, with communities like Macedonia, Osborn, and Titus situated along the winding roads that skirt the base of peaks like Eagle Mtn and Jumbo Knob.
