2022 Map of Marathon Gap

USGS Topo · Published 2022

About this map

The Glass Mountains dominate this West Texas landscape, where the dramatic opening at Marathon Gap provides a natural passage through the high country. In the southern portion of the quadrangle, the terrain levels out into the W B Flats, a broad expanse punctuated by the distinct rise of Clark Butte. Transportation in this part of Pecos County is defined by remote thoroughfares like Longfellow Rd and the aptly named Wagon Rd, which trace the valleys and gaps of the high desert. Local aviation is represented by the Allison Ranch Airport, situated on a relatively flat terrace. The drainage patterns of the region are marked by intermittent watercourses, including Sixshooter Draw and Nineteen Draw, which reflect the arid environment and seasonal hydrologic activity of this ranching country.
