Transportation in the early 1980s relied on the North Western railroad line which follows the northern bank of the river, while a strict grid of numeric avenues, such as 152d Avenue South, segments the surrounding agricultural uplands. Rural life is marked by several traditional landmarks, including Trinity Ch and the Pine Valley Golf Course. Numerous drainage features like Scotch Creek and Artus Creek feed the larger river system, punctuating the terrain with narrow wooded coulees.
