Lake Superior dominates the southern half of this coastal survey, where the rocky North Shore meets the expansive waters of the Great Lakes. The landscape is defined by the drainage basins of the Brule River and the Flute Reed River, which flow south through heavily contoured terrain toward the lake. Small tributaries such as Gauthier Cr and Muir Cr carve through the upland areas, reflecting the complex hydrology of the Arrowhead region. Along the shoreline, Paradise Beach offers a rare named landing point near the offshore landmark of Marr Island.
