The Superior National Forest dominates this coastal section of Cook County, where the boreal wilderness meets the north shore of Lake Superior. The landscape is defined by the descent of the Brule River and Flute Reed River toward the lake, carving through a terrain marked by prominent elevations like Caspers Hill. While much of the interior is managed forest land, the coastline reveals small pockets of local history, including the Trinity Lutheran Cem near the junction of North Rd and Diagonal Rd.
