Marysvale Peak stands as the high point in this portion of the Fishlake National Forest, overlooking a complex system of drainage canyons and high plateaus. The landscape is defined by its water management history, featuring numerous high-altitude basins like Manning Meadows and artificial catchments such as Big Flat Reservoir, Wills Reservoir, and Burnt Flat Reservoir. These water sources are connected by a network of seasonal streams including Manning Creek and Upper Box Creek, which carve deep incisions into the terrain at Anderson Canyon and Shaffers Canyon.
