McBain serves as the central hub of this northern Michigan landscape, situated at the junction of W Stoney Corners Rd and N Pine St. The area is defined by a dense network of country roads and small waterways, including the winding Clam River to the north and the multi-branched headwaters of Ryan Cr and Middle Br Cr further south. Notable for genealogists and local historians are the established grounds of Mount View Cem, located just south of the town center, and Riverside Cem to the east.
