McCall serves as the gateway to the high lakes and forests of Central Idaho, situated at the southern tip of Payette Lake. The area's character is defined by its recreation and natural resources, with residential growth spreading along the shoreline toward Pilgrim Cove and Sylvan Beach. The McCall Fish Hatchery and McCall Municipal Airport anchor the southern part of the settlement, while the Lake Irrigation District Canal and Stringer Ditch demonstrate the managed water systems supporting the agricultural reaches of Long Valley.
